Currently I don’t think that nuclear energy is having a bad impact on the environment at all, and that’s why I think it’s such a good way of producing energy. It produces very dangerous waste, but because it is so dangerous we treat it very carefully and store it safely where it doesn’t have a negative impact on the environment. This is very much in contrast to other types of power generation such as fossil fuels which are polluting every second that they are generating. Admittedly damage was caused in the severe incidents that occurred at Chernobyl and Fukushima, but fortunately the effects of both have mostly subsided now. There are pockets of higher levels of radiation around both. But because of that we have created exclusion zones, and around Chernobyl especially nature is absolutely flourishing because for the most part it isn’t heavily irradiated and there aren’t any people there.
