Truth be told, it can be a bit mundane here and there, but for the most part I am content with what my job has given to me. I do enjoy ability to be creative and come up with solutions that solve issues in real world, and that is a really satisfying thing to me.
To elaborate on what I do, my main responsibility is to perform data analysis and find any signs of activivty that could indicate potential failure of electrical assets (such as transformer, switchgear, cables, etc.) and work closely with my client to mitigate or resolve the issues. In a simple term, I am working to prevent blackouts to homes and businesses around the country!

Yes it is definitely fun! Hard but fun. I’m a postdoctoral research engineer working for a university research group. I get to design, make and test solar cells and modules along with other types of printed electronics, help work on others peoples projects wherever my skill set is useful, analyse data, write papers and teach. Most days are different and contain bits where I work in the office and bits where I work in the laboratories. It’s really creative, challenging and interesting. Some days where things don’t go according to plan can be stressful but it’s still fun most of the time.

Yes it is fun! I get to come up with new ideas, sketch them out, make some prototypes and hopefully one day turn them into real products if all goes well. It’s really interesting and I am always learning a lot!

Mostly! But I think that is the same for most jobs. Even if you really like your job there are less fun bits than need to be done like filling out paperwork. One of the best things about my job are the people I work with who can help to make even the boring bits of my job more fun!

I am an engineering consultant. This means that I work for a small company but go into bigger companies to help them complete their engineering work. Sometimes I help manage their engineering projects to make sure they are doing the right work and get it done at the right time for the right cost. Sometimes I help them solve engineering problems, like working out how best to keep parts of a nuclear power plant working as efficiently and safely as possible. I enjoy the challenge of coming up with and testing new ideas.
