• Question: Why do an aircraft need to burn when it is flying?

      Hi,

      Aircraft need to burn fuel to overcome drag, just like a car needs to burn fuel too. We are always trying to reduce the amount of fuel needed so that aircraft have less effect on the environment, and also because it costs the airlines (and passengers) more money if the aircraft burns more fuel.
