I was fortunate enough to have opportunities to attend two universities through scholarship; one in the US and one in the UK when I was in higher education. I spent a year at University of Minnesota in the US before transferring to University of Manchester in the UK to complete my degree. While not every one will have the same opportunity as I did, I would strongly encourage you to look further than the local university and explore studying abroad (with scholarship if possible) to not only see the world, but also broaden your experince as well.
I wend to Swansea University and I am yet to have left…. I went there to do an undergraduate Masters (MEng) in Product Design Engineering, then decided to do a Materials Engineering Doctorate (EngD) and ended up loving it so much I now work there as a researcher.
